B Merry Studio is the world’s largest custom Ulu (pronounced oo-loo) knife manufacturer with over 30 unique models! We have been making our knives in Alaska since the 1990’s to share the history and functionality of this special one-handed knife, that was historically the exclusive tool used by the Native Alaskan Inuit people for thousands of years. This knife is an all around utility utensil for skinning, chopping, cutting and slicing. Our Ulu knife handles are hand carved from our standard natural materials of wood, Dymondwood (resin impregnated Birch plywood), Moose antler, Caribou antler, Dall Sheep horn, Mammoth bone and Ivory, Walrus Oosik and jawbone and Musk Ox bone. We source our own handle materials in the arctic each fall and all our materials are 100% sustainable and Made in USA.

The Forged Blades Come in Two Options

The forged blades come in two options of 440 stainless steel and Damascus steel. These high-quality blades hold an edge, stay sharp and can be honed whenever needed. This one-handed 6” round blade cuts as it rocks back and forth. The rocking improves dexterity and provides more leverage, making both fine cuts and chopping tasks simple. This design works especially well for anyone with weak hands.

Ulu knife uses are quite versatile. Let’s just say: your kitchen tasks will be easier when you pair any Ulu knife from Alaska with a B Merry Studio wood chopping bowl. Each bowl has a dished front face to match the rounded Ulu blade and a flat back face for use with any standard straight knife. Each bowl also provides a blade slot (top or corner) for countertop storage and display of your Ulu knife while keeping it handy. We make bowls in 3 wood options; Striped Alder & Walnut, 100% Birch, and 100% Alder. You can order a knife and board separately or in gift sets. We also make a handmade leather sheath for taking your Ulu knives on the road.
